After reviewing the
applications, it was difficult choosing from interested people being
involved in various community activities, organizations and
experience. The Idea Selection Committee consists of:Jim Mottet
Joe Scherrman Mark Singsank Dean Knepper Matt Klaren Kiley Rahe Jeanne Coppola Randi Trumm Dave Nebel Janelle Tucker Craig Kramer Kari Wittmeyer Carrie Koelker Brian Cassidy Jane McClean The Idea Selection Committee will meet in January to review all of the ideas that will make Dyersville and the surrounding area a great place to live, work and play. The committee will gradually narrow down ideas to 30 by April, 2009. Here were the details of the Idea Selection Committee The Idea Selection Committee will consist of no more than 15 community volunteers that will be responsible for taking ALL of the ideas submitted to Imagine 2020, and eventually narrowing the list down to 5 major ideas that will have a positive impact on the greater Dyersville area for years to come. Volunteers will need to complete an application and submit it to the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce office. The Imagine 2020 Steering Committee will then review the applications anonymously, and choose the Idea Selection Committee based on the demographic and interest answers provided on the application. Our goal is to choose a Selection Committee that reflects the community's make-up, with as broad of cross section as we can possibly determine from the application. They should live in all corners of the community, and represent long-time residents, new-to-the area, retirees, and those employed in health and human services, banking, sales and labor. Some will work for large companies, while others are self-employed and some members work for non-profit agencies. We want to have a great representation and eliminate any perception that only the "pet projects" of a few will make the final list. Once the committee has been selected, they will start meeting on a regular basis to delve into the list and begin the discussion process. They will learn a lot about each other and about the ideas that are important to others in the community, as they narrow the list down. Then the community will weigh in on those 30 ideas at the Town Hall meeting. That input will narrow the list further and the Selection Committee will choose the final high-impact ideas for Dyersville. |
